Meet the team: Alex

Our Lead Developer, Alex Gant, has been with us since 2013 – a veteran in Fellowship terms.

During that time Alex has worked on a huge variety of websites, e-commerce sites and back office integrations.

The clients he’s helped range from local businesses such as Shires Residential and Portable Space, to multinationals such as Flexiteek and Genesee & Wyoming.

Asked what has given him most satisfaction, Alex says:

“I love it when our work brings significant, real world, benefits for clients.”

Examples include:

  • an automated system that updates the price of ecommerce products, using a CSV export from the client’s stock control system. It also creates or updates a PDF datasheet for each product in the catalogue.
  • a software licensing system for a company that builds optometry hardware. It uses WordPress in a very different way.
  • thanks to the CMS, a new WordPress-based website we built gave the client a secure, searchable, online database of all their locations worldwide. This gives their staff a valuable, single reference point for all those sites. An unintended but very useful by-product of the new website!

Alex’s favourite thing about working for Fellowship is the team.

“We have a massive amount of experience across so many different facets of web / app development, design, branding and digital marketing.

Everyone is great fun to work with. I’m really proud of the team we’ve built.”

Outside work Alex spends time with his wife and his two boys, aged six and 10.

“A wise person once told me that your greatest contribution to life might not be something you do but someone that you raise. By that rationale, I’m currently contributing two small gibbons!”

A self-proclaimed geek, Alex is into sci-fi books and films, tabletop roleplaying games and retro computer systems.

He’s a passionate recycler, fastidiously taking things apart so that all of the components can be put into the correct bins!

Alex also enjoys being outdoors – walking, running, camping and water sports. He’s a scout assistant and helps organise the annual village fayre and, this year, the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
