Xplor Technologies is a global platform integrating SaaS, payments and Commerce Accelerating Technologies. In 2022 over 78,000 customers used their software solutions to process over $36 billion in payments across 20 markets. Xplor commissioned Fellowship to integrate multiple websites on different CMS platforms within a new WordPress Multisite.
The Objective
To redesign and build 12 websites to a WordPress Multisite, in order to:
- Save time and money
- Streamline hosting, support and development costs
- Centralise management with localised updates
- Improve the UX of each site
- Enable each site to operate as a standalone business
- Ensure brand consistency across all sites
Our Solution
We designed and built two parent WordPress themes – Xplor and Truecoach. We then created a child theme for each site on the network.
The parent themes have the same page templates and components, but with different branding.
Brand consistency
Xplor’s old websites were designed, built and managed by different agencies and developers.
Re-platforming these into one new WordPress Multisite, using shared resources and theming, ensures brand consistency across all sites.
Reduced hosting costs
When each site ran on its own server, the hosting costs were substantial.
Consolidating these into one multisite, hosted on a single server, has significantly reduced running costs.
Increased productivity
Previously, the time required to change content and integrate third party services across multiple websites was a real headache for the Xplor team.
With our new multisite they have a streamlined workflow with an identical, familiar interface. Making changes to individual sites within the network is now quick and easy as all sites are accessed via one single CMS control panel.
Easy editing
WordPress’s Gutenberg editor has highly flexible blocks and provides a WYSIWYG experience.
Site admins can quickly and easily edit content and create pages without HTML coding skills.
Previously, creating or editing a page or post was imprecise, fiddly and time consuming.
Now, editor previews are instant and take place on the back-end of the site without saving and having to visit the front-end.
This greatly reduces editing time and avoids reliance on expensive and buggy front-end editor plugins.

Flexible and future proof
WordPress Multisite’s flexibility caters for any unforeseen future requirements. New sites can be easily added using the existing themes.
Or they can have their own unique theme and functionality, without affecting the existing sites.
The Result
The first phase of this project includes 12 websites, four of which are now live, including Xplor Gym and Truecoach.
The next phase is likely to include an additional seven websites, with many more planned for the future.
